Joanna Jedrzejczyk brought to the UFC women’s strawweight division a unique fighting style when she debuted as an MMA fighter, from being a Muay Thai kickboxer at SFT – MMA Fight Night Diva SPA against Sylwia Juskiewicz on May 19, 2012.

The sprawl which is considered one of the few effective ways to defeat an opponent in many martial arts style is  Joanna’s favorite. On most of her fights, this had always been effective and soon enough die-hard MMA fans notice of  Joanna’s preference for using it. In her fights, they always wait for these moments, when she subdues her opponent with her distinctive sprawl.

As the world’s number 1 pound-for-pound female MMA fighter this distinctive style had won her many championships and launched her into the UFC limelight.

Joanna Jędrzejczyk however, when KO’d by Rose Namajunas in the UFC 217 championship on November 4, 2017 that was held at the Madison Square Garden, New York, was not able to employ her distinctive sprawl. She lost the fight to Namajunas in the first round.

She was overconfident at the start of the fight and even wasted a fraction of her time during their face in and trashed talk Namajunas. Her ego though took a pounding however when she was knocked down early in the first round of the championship by Namajuanas’ lethal left hook. That was their first bout and Namajunas showed her early on you don’t need to talk dirty to become a champion.

The two faced each other again in a rematch last April 7, 2018, at UFC 223, where Jedrzejczyk again lost the fight to Namajunas via unanimous decision
